Acupuncture in Our Practice

Acupuncture, being a nat ural form of healing, has been used with great success for thousands of years to treat acute and chronic pain, emanating from the neuromusculoskeletal system.

The Technique of Acupuncture involves the accurate insertion of sterile, thin, stainless steel needles, into specific anatomical points on the body, to decrease pain and return the individual to his or her normal functioning.

Determining the most strategic course of treat ment, should begin with a thorough exam, a medical and acupuncture history, an orthopedic/neurological examination, as well as a review of any diagnostic testing specific for the patient's chief complaint. This forms the basis for a working diagnosis, t hus, ensuring the best outcome for our patients.

Laser Acupuncture

Acupuncture performed without needles is an alternative form of acupuncture that can be used for patients uncomfortable with needles, or having anxiety about the process in general.

The Laser protocol is performed by treating over specific acupuncture points, much like conventional needle acupuncture, but without touching or contact with the skin. A feeling of warmth, relief and relaxation is experienced. This form of acupuncture is especially effective for providing pain relief associated with arthritis, inflammation around a joint, tendonitis or nerve pain, such as carpal tunnel syndrome.

Through the process of photobiomodulation or more simply stated, a specific wave form that is generated to initiate cellular healing, detoxification of cellular debris, an increase in circulation, endorphin release, and most important to the patient, "pain relief."
